    Sunday, July 26, at 4pm: Our Lives on the Line: A Rally and Vigil Against the West Roxbury Lateral Pipeline. Rally at Gonzalez Field in Dedham, 500 High Street. Starting at 4:30, a walk and peaceful vigil at the Dedham-Boston City Line, 5530 Washington Street, West Roxbury, along the path of the proposed pipeline, linking arms.

    Worship Along the Pipeline. Prior to the Rally, at 3:00 pm at Gonzalez Park, there will be a “Worship Along the Pipeline” service led by area clergy. All are welcome.

    Dear Neighbors,

    You may have heard the disturbing news that construction has begun on the West Roxbury Lateral Gas Pipeline.  Some of you attended the teach-in we organized in May. Neighbors are concerned about the safety risks of the pipeline and the climate change implications of unneeded fossil fuel infrastructure.

    As construction began in Dedham, the Chair of the Dedham Selectman, Mike Butler, did civil disobedience to express his outrage at the Texas-based Spectra Corporation overriding local concerns and lawsuits.

    PLEDGE TO RESIST THE PIPELINE NOW!

    In Boston, organizing has begun to stop the pipeline at the Dedham-Boston line.  All of our elected officials –including Mayor Walsh, the Boston City Council, Rep. Stephen Lynch — have pledged to use every tool at their disposal to stop the pipeline.  On Friday, Spectra Corporation, sued the City of Boston, threatening to use eminent domain powers to take city land to build the pipeline.

    As the pipeline approaches, we may call for a direct nonviolent blockade, if necessary.  We need you to pledge to join us for vigils and possibly non-violent direct action.

    Here are some ways you can get involved today: 

    1.  Learn More and Take the Pledge at the new web portal, which includes “Six Reasons to Oppose the Pipeline” and links to more information. www.resistthepipeline.org.
    2. Chip in for a Newspaper Advertisement. Contribute to a newspaper signature advertisement in a local newspaper through this portal. Click here to donate now!

    4. Join us for outreach on Saturday, July 11.  Stop the West Roxbury Lateral (SWRL) will be door-knocking and staffing information tables at high-traffic areas around West Roxbury on July 11.  If you can volunteer, contact: Paul Horn at paulhorn32@comcast.net or Nancy Wilson atnwilsong2@gmail.com.
    5. Get trained in nonviolent direct action. If you are considering participating in nonviolent direct action, plan on attending a non-violent direct action training sessions.     Join us for an anti-war July 4th. Since July 4th falls on a saturday, our weekly Sat. peace vigil will happen as usual. If you get tired of the patriotic pro-war observance of the holiday, come join us for an alternative gathering: anti-war, pro-black lives matter, against the surveillance state, for funding social welfare and ending funding for the US war machine.
