Saturday, February 25, at noon, members of Occupy Boston will rally and march from Copley Square against the MBTA’s proposed fare hikes, service cuts, and layoffs.For years, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has failed to fund public transportation adequately, and forced the MBTA to borrow exorbitant sums. Now the MBTA is trying to balance its books on the backs of those who can afford it the least. Drastic fare hikes, service cuts, and layoffs will devastate students, seniors, low-income communities, and everyone who must rely on the T. The MBTA’s proposals will also force between 55,000 and 92,000 more cars on the road each day, creating traffic nightmares, and 50,000 tons of additional carbon dioxide emissions.It’s time to show the general public that we, the 99%, will not accept these proposals and that we demand to find a more sensible way of addressing the MBTA’s financial situation. Join us on Saturday at noon!

If you don’t want a fare increase then occupy a sidewalk
I would like to give you all an update. During OB’s stay near South Station, a filmmaker was making a documentary regarding the bailouts and did some filming of OB (you are now famous) when they came to interview Noam Chomsky, who also appears in the film. The film has since been made and has won BEST DOCUMENTARY at the Derby Film Festival in Kentucky.

The crew will be at film festivals throughout the US (one of them is located a couple of blocks away from the B of A headquarters;) and they are hoping to appear at an event here in Boston. I will keep you posted.

“We also yesterday connected with a NYC publicist who really digs the film and got Ratigan to sign his book on top of it all. It was really cool to see people from all different walks of life to come out to hear what Dylan’s preaching. That guy connects with a lot of different demographics, but for one (if the crowd was any indicator)–young people, the most damaged victims in our Legal Crisis.
That’s the term I’ll use from now on. Calling what’s happened since 2008 a financial crisis puts things on par with the S&L crisis, which (1) only cost $75 billion, (2) saw financial executives go to jail, and thus (3) is negligible next to the current crisis, which has carpet-bombed jurisprudence all the way back to the early 1200’s or before.
The Legal Crisis is worse than the S&L crisis and, if not stopped, will dwarf the Great Depression in its grimness.”
