Occupy Worcester just released the following statement on Facebook:
After a meeting with a Worcester City Resident, Mayor Joseph O’Brien of Worcester has expressed support for the Occupy Wall Street movement and Occupy Worcester. He will be personally attending Saturday’s General Assembly and has offered the use of the Levi Lincoln Room and the City Counsel Chamber for indoor General Assemblies, workshops, “speak-outs,” and community discussions.
Occupy Boston is excited to hear that authorities in Worcester are standing behind the 99%, and we call on cities everywhere to follow Worcester’s good example in supporting and defending its citizens’ First Amendment rights.

Hi Joshua,
Can you please post this CALL TO ACTION to the home page. Thank you.
CALL TO ACTION
Sign the Petition – http://pol.moveon.org/badagdeal/?id=32549-20016589-58u4hXx&t=2
Full petition text:
“The banks have to be held accountable for destroying the American Dream for so many families. No immunity for the banks before a full investigation is done.
In America right now, small crimes get punished, but big crimes–committed against the whole country by the 1%–get free passes and bailouts.
Federal and state negotiators—including top members of the Obama administration—are days away from striking a bad deal that would let the banks off the hook for illegally foreclosing on millions of homeowners.”
The only way to stop it is to convince the president that millions of Americans want to see a full, fair investigation before anyone gets immunity. Add your name and we’ll deliver it to the White House.
A compiled petition with your individual comment will be presented to President Obama.
I’m afraid this would need approval from Occupy Boston’s General Assembly (GA) before it could be posted to our website; however, you’re welcome to present it to a General Assembly yourself if you like. (Check the calendar in the right navigation for the date and time of the next GA.)
Really? Is this the only way (to come to a GA) otherwise nothing that’s proposed online makes its way to being approved as actionable worthwhile activities that would produce REAL results. What a shame…if those on the ground represent the 99% there must be a better way to capture all the voices.
That petition now has close to 200,000 signatures but by the time it gets approved by the OccupyBoston GA to be distributed as a CALL TO ACTION on the topic that the majority of supporters care about – it will probably be too late. Thanks anyway…
Josh- did the General Assembly vote on taking down (censoring) the other posts related to the finance group?
I’d appreciate an answer- thanks!
I believe that was an honest mistake on the part of one of our volunteers.
I live less then a mile from occupy worester, down town or camp site at lake park. Wwe are the working lower middle class, patriotic. Every street has a marker of our fallen troops. We are democrats, but not socialists or democrats. We are upset with crimes of few on wall street and the banking industry. We are more angry at the politicians; both democrat and republican. Do not be confused, we do not support the communists behind thes occupy locations. The 20 or so tents with 6 or 7 protesters do not represent us.
Well said Missy – you seem to be more representative of the majority of people than the radicals controlling the Occupy Tents movement.
“I live less then a mile from occupy worester, down town or camp site at lake park.”
Come visit a General Assembly then!
“Do not be confused, we do not support the communists behind thes occupy locations.”
Don’t be confused by your preconceived notions, There are communists, anarchists, socialists, democratic socialists, libertarians, Democrats, Republicans, old-school Tea Party, and more who are all participating in the Occupy movement.
“News and Announcement”
OccupyBoston stands on the sidelines while Worcester and Waltham organize the types of CALLS TO ACTION that speak to the CORE issues of this movement. I am starting to question if this GA approach is working. Individuals / Other Local Occupy Movements in the Boston area are taking the right actions – the GA at OB should take cue from OWS and these types of actions.
I posted earlier the actions organized by Worcester (re: march against WallStreet/corporate greed); now Waltham is doing the same

There’s a Move Your Money Day planning meeting occurring at Occupy Boston this week that you’re welcomed to attend and share your opinions at.
Isn’t Move Your Money Day supposed to be Nov 5th (tomorrow)?
What is the planning meeting supposed to accomplish if it is taking place after the date set by OWS?
In my humble opinion I would suggest that planning happens a few weeks ahead of a target date. These are missed opportunities to really make an impact. I am only pushing the envelope because I care about the movement…and as an observer I see other movements being more focused so I would like our local Boston one to focus on the core issues as well.
For ex. – it should be very simple: monitor what OWS is CALLING TO ACTION FOR; align with them; promote the initiatives weeks ahead (i.e. of a Nov 5th date); and TA-DA, this way there is more of an impact. Just a suggestion…

Recreate our democracy. We will start to create a society that is organized to meet human needs, not maximize corporate profit.

BIG D AND THE KIDS TABLES … Their songs …… Raining Zombies on Wall Street, Hell on Earth, and TRY OUT YOUR Voice ,which was a song that gave voiced during the Obama Campaign and when it ignited the youth in the USA …..
They would do it for you …… USE them …..
Among the arguments against the Occupy movement is the one that states, “when are these people going to decide what their proclamation is and isn’t going to include?” This critique demands that a movement based on years of malaise, disappointment with what passes for democracy, a realization that the clock is ticking on solving global warming, and a yearning for a share of the nation’s wealth, should express itself in concrete terms so as to become self-identified as a ‘movement’ that fits the sociological models found in text books.
Well, it’s just too bad guys, sociologists haven’t described this one yet. So what? Does this negate what is happening all over the country as a non-violent general assembly? “General assembly?” these critics complain, “what does that mean?” Well, open your eyes and put away the text books, attend one of the meetings and you will see what democracy in action looks like: intelligent discussion, the capable practice of the art of strategy, skillful negotiation, patience, altruism and compassion, and a creative approach to human relations.
I just want to say that I am personally very encouraged and inspired by all the protesters at all the Occupy movements nationwide. Just my 2 cents.
PS Thank you.
